Psychotherapy
What is it? Psychotherapy is a process of talking about problems, difficulties and issues of concern with a psychologist or counselor with the goal of finding effective and long-lasting solutions. People usually consider psychotherapy because they are hurting or in pain in their personal or relational life. My goal is to journey with you as you negotiate and make the changes you want to make to live a more fulfilling, happier and integrated life.
How does it work? It is not only the process of talk therapy that helps and I usually suggest meaningful activities, including journaling and/or reflecting exercises to help in the work of therapy. Therapy is work.
What might be the problem? I have been privileged to journey with many individuals with a variety of concerns including: depression, anxiety, anger and resentment, trauma, grief, addictions, vocational and life choices, relationship difficulties, parent-child issues. If I cannot be of help, then I will refer you to someone else.
How much does it cost? Some medical insurance companies pay for psychotherapy but I am not a preferred provider or an in-network provider for any company but am seen as being 'out of network'. I always suggest that you talk to your insurance provider to find out what is covered, your deductible and co-pay. Not everyone has health insurance and for those who do not I offer a sliding scale fee based on what you can afford.
